Movement Monday: Easy Shoulder Warm-Up, Four Ways

Now that some of the crisis surrounding my symphony employment has been averted, it's time to get back to movement teaching, writing, practicing, and more, although I will write a little about that San Antonio Symphony situation.  For now though, here's an easy shoulder warm-up, in a few different ways.

A few different ways of practicing external and internal rotation of the arm bones, with and without load.

1) Try externally and internally rotating your arm bones without weight first.  You can see here that my floor is a little uneven, so one side of my body is up a little higher than the other.

2) Add a small weight, maybe 2-3 pounds.

3) No weights?  Try yoga blocks, which can be good, especially if they're cork or wood.

4) No weights or yoga blocks?  Try books- Harry Potter books 5-7 are an excellent weight!
